As a Disc Jockey you get to hear a lot of songs. The range of which you get to hear and play DJ Music is amazing. Imagine this, Disc Jockeys are being used for so many events today that wemust be prepared to play the music that clients wish to here.
For example, A Disc Jockey is slowly overtaking bands as the first source of entertainment for weddings. That is why we currently have to be well capable in romantic music because thatis what our new buyers need to hear. The timing for these kinds of events needs to be impeccable. You can’t just put in the music and folks will dance to it. In weddings, there are moments that folks need to talk while other moment require you to just part and dance. I live for those moments in awedding because they are the most sun I have ever had because people are all often ecstatic during marriages.
Another place that you would see a Disc Jockey is at company events. We are slowly becoming synonymous to emcees except of course for the incontrovertible fact that we play DJ Music from time to time. I love company gatherings due to the actual number of people there. Usually conventions can include thousands of folk. Each of these people has different tastes in music and it is my job as disc jockey to pander to those interests. A certain kind of playlist can’t dominate an event because you run the danger of alienating some of the bunch and making the whole experience less fun for every one.
You also get to introduce critical speakers in conventions making it vital that you’ve got a good voice. I had to work a lot on that because I used to rely heavily on the DJ Music that I played to attach to the crowd, but now I think I’m slowly getting the trick down pat. Just a few weeks ago I introduced a key note speaker in a sales convention and everybody clapped for me. In hindsight, they could be clapping for the speaker.
